Originally a bridesmaid dress worn by the bride’s sister, Strawberry Sorbet is a classic 1950s silhouette of small waist and very full ballerina-length skirt.

In a delightful shade of pink, it has a scalloped, ‘crumb-catcher’ boned, upper bodice with shoestring straps. In a broderie anglaise style organdie fabric, the skirt, supported by layers of lining and starched petticoats, flares in captivating 50s style.

The ensemble is topped off with a removable matching bolero jacket with a standing collar typical of 50s fashion. It would make a stunning wedding dress or a prom dress.

This outfit is in remarkable condition for its age – with the exception of a very small (highly stubborn!) mark on the lower skirt which is about 1.5cm long and barely noticeable in the fullness of the skirt. I can only hope I have as few signs of age when I reach my 70s!
