Inspired by a Mother's Wedding Gown

It may have been more than 60 years since her mother had walked down the aisle in a trendy, ballet length white lace gown in 1960, but this dress was the inspiration for this 2020 Winter bride.

An inbuilt corset, boned and meticulously fitted, meant that our bride was confident not wearing a bra beneath the dress.

The intricate embellished lace was highlighted with gold thread and myriad tiny pearl beads. The beads were picked off each seam before sewing and then hand sewn back to give a perfect finish. The hem line and sleeves were finished with the fabric's lace edging sewn by hand. Acres of soft net gave the skirt the 1960s vibe and a soft swishing sound with every step.

A short veil was created from tulle and spare beads from the fabric were glued on in a random pattern. The outfit was completed with a fur stole, lined with the taffeta fabric from the under dress which was welcome as the temperature outside the chapel at Glen Tanar in Royal Deeside was -3 as the bride arrived!
