Prairie Song

Somewhere between an Edwardian daydream and a 1970s folk album cover.

  • High collar finished with narrow lace
  • Pintucks running down the centre bodice
  • Covered buttons lined up in perfect formation—Laura Ashley would absolutely approve
  • Floor-length skirt with a generous ruffle at the hem, edged with lace
  • Built-in net petticoat giving it that soft bell shape—ideal for twirling bare foot on grassy fields.
  • Romantic, original 1970s, unashamedly leaning into the prairie revival.

Beverley says:
I see this on a bride who collects pressed flowers in old books. Who knows all the words to Joni Mitchell’s Blue. It’s for running away to the countryside, handfasting under an oak tree, or simply giving the registry office a touch of pastoral drama. Very much not for anyone who thinks ruffles are passé.

Measurements:

  • Bust: 33"
  • Waist:27"
  • Hips: free
  • Waist to hem (front): 42"
  • There is enough of a side seam to let this out by approx. 1.5cm so a total of almost 6cm plus the darts at the waist could be let out by a max of 0.75cm – so another 1.5cm.

About True Vintage:
This is an original 1970s gown. It’s been carefully cleaned and is in beautiful condition, but vintage dresses often have little signs of their age—like laugh lines in a good face.
